On October 27, 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a statewide emergency due to the effects of unprecedented high-wind events which have resulted in fires and evacuations across the state. Consequently, Commissioner of Business Oversight Manuel P. Alvarez has determined that an extraordinary situation exists and has issued a proclamation authorizing state-chartered banks to close any or all of their offices in affected areas until the Commissioner determines the extraordinary condition has ended.
